Rottweiler puppies :)

Phoebe looks great. She isn't huge so I don't think she is having a large litter which is good news for her first.

She has her milk in ready so it won't be long now.

Everyone is excited as she is such an adorable girl and we all think she will be a fantastic Mum

In preparation of the event I have scrubbed the floor and left out some "old" bedding for her to shred. Whelping can be very messy (depends how vidulant Mum is) but I often burn the bedding afterwards

I have set up the heating in my small pen too. I like to make sure there is an area large enough for Mum and babies which is well heated, no draughts and easy to clean of course.

I have moved most of her mates out as she needs solitude when whelping. I will stay with her, of course and she will be fine with other humans but other dogs!! that is a different matter. In my experience even the most friendly of girls will not allow other dogs near her puppies for at least a few days, in some cases like Pippa, my terrier EVER :) It isn't worth stressing her either as it can be quite scary and confusing for them as they have puppies appearing. Some really are not sure what it is or what to do with it/them. Generally they do get the hang of it and maternal instincts kick in.

I will let you know how Phoebe gets on and fingers crossed all goes well as she has a few people waiting for her babies :) :)

Phoebe, whilst not huge is definitely looking round and has slowed down a little. She some times doesn't get out of bed to great us which is so not her. She is eating very well, of course but there is nothing new there.

I will start to advertise them once they are safely here as I will be very particular where they go as we all know they could fall into the "wrong hands"being Rotti's

One of my objectives in having Phoebe was to restore some faith back into the breed and address the public image of Rottweilers. Even if I only achieved that is some small way it is worth it and many have warmed and might I say, even been impressed with her :)

 Phoebe is an exceptional dog, forget she is a Rotti, she certainly helps any nervous dogs to settle in my boarding, she is fantastic and very gentle with Danni, our kitten and my boys love to wrestle with her which she absolutely loves. We couldn't have wished for a more gorgeous girl and if her puppies are half as lovely they will be a pleasure to live with too.

Phoebe is looking great. I have increased her food a little as fingers crossed she is with child after mating with the gorgeous and very well bred Kimbo 4 weeks ago.

Mel and I went walking at the back of the quarry at Swarkstone yesterday and what a fabulous walk it was. The 4 dogs we took had a great time. Maggie, at one point shot out of the little church window to a 10 feet drop. No injury and it didn't even phase her as she shot straight off to play.

The "church" is part of the rock formation I guess from the ice age and looks quite spectacular.

We were wondering what kind of Mum Phoebe is going to make as she is such a gentle, loving aunty to her mates puppies and we have never, ever seen anything nasty about her. I think she will be protective of her babies and very attentive. We are so looking forward to seeing them/her with them and have very intention on keeping one. Well, we can! :)

Phoebe got married

I found a fantastic husband for Phoebe.

Stunning looking with a big bold head and fantastic shoulders, a perfect shape. So much so he has oodles of championships in his pedigree. He was so very gentle with her, an absolute gentleman.

Mark, Kimbo's owner is being very selective who he marries so there will be very few chances to acquire his/her off spring.

Phoebe is fantastically well bred too of course so this marriage is ideal

Phoebe certainly "fancied him" and married willingly two weeks ago so fingers crossed for Rottweiler puppies in 7 weeks time. We cannot wait to see how she is as a Mum

Match making is not easy you know!

I have had Phoebe's hip and elbow assessed and both are very good.

The breeder has lifted all endorsements so I can now go ahead and breed from her so now the search is on for a gorgeous boy who has equally good, if not better health screening.


He must be a nice, chunky boy as Rottweilers can be too fine and of course he must be sound of character.

I think we may have found a suitable boy. He's based in Yorkshire so I'll get his details, make contact, if suitable we wait for her to come into season (Feb 2015 ish) Then fingers cross, 9 weeks later we have Rottweiler puppies.
